Abreeza Fashion Forum

7/24/2014

Last Thursday, I was privileged to be among the few to be invited to Abreeza's First Fashion Forum. It was like a prelude to Abreeza's Style Origin show (held during the weekend, which I'll be blogging about soon!), featuring a sneak peek. Clothes that would possibly be worn at the community fashion show from selected merchants like SOUL Lifestyle, Dorothy Perkins, FOX, Just G, Gingersnaps and the Original Penguin were on display. We also had Style Origin's head stylist Luis Espiritu as a guest speaker.

He talked about his experiences and some trend forecasting. There was also an open forum where we could ask questions. I asked how he got into styling and for some tips for budding stylists, since you know, I'm very vocal about wanting to be one. :P  Someone also asked about his opinion on Davao fashion. If you're from Davao, you'd know that Davao fashion's pretty relaxed compared to Manila, and people tend to play it safe here. People wear almost the same things for fear of getting stared at. Mr. Espiritu described Davao fashion as relaxed, but not pretentious, and I definitely could not agree more!

However, he did say that it is always important to dress for the occasion, just as a sign of respect. At the same time, one of his key points was to be yourself. Be comfortable because you're at your best when you're comfortable and it shows.

For the last part of the program, Mr. Espiritu chose that night's best dressed and Ron Santos won! He got a GC from Abreeza.

I attended the event with mah homie, Rien. Here we are at one of the selfie stations at the event.

The event was generously catered by Sumo Sam and we had music from DJ Jon Game. It was so nice seeing the usual (and not so usual) faces at these fashion events!

Good news is that this is just the first of more fashion forums to come! Abreeza plans on holding one monthly to inspire Davaoenos to be more fashion forward. What else can you expect from the mall that brought some of the most fashionable brands in the world to Davao? Hope I get invited to the next ones! :)

Congratulations to Aidx on your event, and thank you for inviting me! :)
