Hello Again, 2011!

As you can see from the date since I last posted, I've neglected to blog in the LONGEST time! I was (and still am) super busy with school, plus I didn't have anything to write about. Anyway, I got inspired by my friend, Cheyser Pedregosa to blog again. (Check out her blog! It's awesome, by the way. I should stop talking about her or else I end up like a foaming-in-the-mouth fan!)

So, I've renamed by blog to LAYERED VINTAGE LUXE. Say whut?

It's a name I invented for an outfit I wore to school one day. I missed my first class and was already late for the second one, so I threw on this vintage dress I got at a roadside thrift shop for 30php (about 60 cents) and wore it as a top, jeans and a black cardigan from my grandmother. Too bad I didn't take a picture of that or any of my other outfits the past few days. I've been so inspired to dress up lately! :)

Milan S/S 2011 Favorites Pt 2

Another one of my favorites from the recently concluded Milan Fashion Week was Moschino. It was eye-catching, playful, and I love black and white worn together with other colors. And it's funny, because I have been having this thing for polka dots and I haven't seen an awesome polka dotted execution in a while. 

This collection to me has an awesome retro/cowboy feel. But it's too you know, aggressive. It's playful, yet powerful.

I love the Moschino Cheap and Chic collection as well. It evoked a different kind of playfulness--more baby kinda brights/brights for the younger set. Colors were in turquoise, pink, yellow. 

This outfit feels like something I would see people wear to those formal tea/garden parties in Europe, where the women are in twin sets and hats--except for a younger set.

This one feels like something I'd wear to a tennis match, probably because of the white top and bottom, but the jacket is just gorge!

This gingham dress reminds me of the Wild Wild West for some reason, but made garden-y/girly by the neckline and wedges. (for lunch out with your friends on like, a golf course or something)

Well, another one of my favorites is Prada's collection. I just love the stripes and the monkeys! The monkey details were just the cutest unexpected addition. Unexpected because well, when I think of monkeys, I think of the hairy ones in the zoo, and they are totally not glamorous.

So colorful, it feels like a fiesta!

Not sure I'm a huge fan of those wedge/sneaker things though. They seem a little too much.

My Favorites from the Milan S/S 2011 Collections

First of all, this one is from Alberta Ferreti. They went for the nude, brown, pink palette, which I am a huge fan of right now. As I've noticed so far, they were the only one (aside from D&G) who went for the actual spring theme.

Spring theme=me asking "What is spring to you?" Spring to me spells flowy, romantic, light, airy, breezy--all of which I found from this collection. If you've noticed, the models' hair are down, which lends sort of a hippie vibe that complements the flowiness of the fabrics used. They also went for the barely-there make up.

I loved this collection--and I'm not a huge Alberta Feretti fan.

Dolce and Gabbana's collection evoked the playful side of the season. The prints and the colors were really eye-catching! Of course, the other reason I loved this collection because like being partial to nude, I am also partial to anything floral, period. (My style: girly girl all the way!) 

I love the turbans, the jumpsuits/playsuits and the maxi-pants (trousers), the wedges, the brightness. I love that checked (or is that gingham) red playsuit! Again, hair down, barely made up look there.

And I cannot explain it, but this collection is just so.. it speaks to me. I looked at it, and a dozen of images swarmed through my head--tea parties, picnics by the river. The last dress in the picture below may be my favorite! 

Props to the designers because everything looks delectable and wearable! I can see actual women buying these clothes. And yet again, I'm not a huge D&G fan.

I better add these 2 labels on my 'ones-to-watch' list in future fashion weeks. ;)
