The Nail Bar Experience

Like I said in my other post, last Saturday, Feebee and I tried out the services at Nail Bar. It was our first time there ever.

Nail Bar opened in January 2010, which I think makes it the first Nail Salon here in Davao. It's located in the building in front of McDonald's Matina (technically near the highway) but it doesn't feel that way. They also play soft bossa nova music to relax you. And like in Dream Nails, they also have a row of couches with the sink on the floor, but my sister and I sat on the 2 white, fluffy couches beside that row of couches with the sink on the floor.

I had a pedicure because I wanted my toes to look good in flip flops when I'd be going to the beach with my friends and my sister tried nail stamping cause she's obsessed with nail art at the moment. The one who did my nails was Sheila, and the one who did my sister's was Flor. They were both really friendly. They made small talk with us and answered my questions. Actually, my aunt bought the place after the original owner moved back to Manila. According to Sheila, before then, my cousins were already regular customers at Nail Bar. :)

Anyway, what I loved about  Nail Bar was that even though they use ONLY imported polish (I asked what their regular polish was and they said they didn't have any), their rates are really affordable! The basic manicure is 120php (meaning cleaning only) but if you upgrade to a branded polish, you only add at least 25php (and that's for both hands already). So that's a manicure with either Orly, Essie or China Glaze polish for 145php! I've tried other nail salons and so far, this has the most bang for your buck! I just had my nails done a week ago at a normal parlor (since Nailaholics is a bit too pricey for me to go to all the time) and they charged me 190php for my manicure. 100php for the basic manicure and 90php to add on Orly polish.

They also offer "polish change" for as low as 60php. Polish change is when they just put on polish but they don't groom your nails. It's perfect for those who easily tire of their nail color. I'm sure lots of students from Ateneo go to Nail Bar on most days since changing polish is super easy and they have a lot of colors to choose from! Nail Bar now also offers Dazzle Dry polish, which is perfect for women on the go. The polish dries in 5 minutes. Less even, actually! My sister chose a Dazzle Dry color and they had to lower the air conditioning cause the polish she was putting on my sister was already drying up!

They also have a LOT of magazines, which I love in both salons and nail salons. :) Anyway, I just noticed also that before the pedicure, they didn't soak my feet like they do in other nail salons. I don't know, I guess it might fall under the foot spa service, but all in all, I was happy with the service. I'm definitely bringing my friends next time (hello Cindel!). I might also try threading some time. :)
