#MedyoBadGirl

4/19/2013

I don't know what it is with leather (or in my case "leather") jackets and black that they are associated with bad girls. I think that you can't immediately tell if someone is a good girl or a bad girl based on outward appearance alone. One of the things I emphasized in my talk to the kids last Monday, the way we dress is how we project ourselves to the world (it could be the way we currently feel or the mood we are trying to evoke) but it's not entirely who we are. For example, on paper I may seem like the good girl but I do have my share of bad girl traits. I don't do the whole excessive partying thing bit hence the #medyobadgirl title. HAHA

I chose to wear this to school today because I planned to go to the gym (thus the ratty tee I told you about here and my tights) but at the last minute I changed my mind because I couldn't bear the thought of going on the treadmill for cardio (wow #medyomaarte) so I decided to walk home as my exercise for the day. Our house is 3.8 km away from school so that's about 2 rounds around the UP Academic Oval (kayang kaya!). Anyway, I added the jacket to put the whole look together. What do you think? :)

Anyway, like I was saying, there are some traits I possess which make me a bad girl (based on what men think are bad girl traits. You can Google it if you want). Let me count the ways:

1) I'm selfish.
I admit it. I'm 80% selfish but 110% caring. O diba? I got that from a tweet. HAHA

2) I'm high maintenance.
My sisters always tell me so anyway. I can live simply and I'm pretty low-maintenance I think on the appearance front, though I do have times wherein things just have to be exact. Case in point, as much as possible I only eat the breast part of the chicken. With that, I remember Sally in the movie When Harry Met Sally. When they went out, she was also really particular about her order. Her salad dressing had to be on the side. I think that's a good thing though because it means,

3) I know what I want.
..and I'm not gonna wait around to fit people into my long-term plans. If you come, you come. I know I've written that I don't know yet what exactly I want to do but I know where I want to be headed. I know what kind of woman I want to be or not. Sometimes I think I scare guys off because of that...because

4) I'm independent.
Oftentimes I'm seen alone and some people ask me how I do it. Lorraine just asked me awhile ago, "You don't care what they think of you?" Admittedly life without a constant group can be freeing. There aren't lots of personalities and preferences to consider. If I wanna go someplace, I just go. It can get a bit lonely sometimes too--I don't always have someone to eat with or hang out with and I feel like I pester the few go-to people I have whenever I need companionship. At the same time, when I feel "neglected", I think about how blessed I am too because I get invites here and there to go out from different groups of people.

Lastly, I'm a bad girl because
5) I speak my mind.
I try as much as possible not to sugarcoat the truth...and I usually get in trouble for that. Just yesterday, me and the other bloggers were talking about something (I forgot about what) when they were trying to say something in that good-but-I-know-you-mean-bad kinda way and I just spit the word out there for them. Haha. I just don't like beating around the bush; I tell it like it is. But of course, I try to tone down that part of me a bit now--I really make sure I listen to all sides before giving an opinion and I try not to give opinions unless I am asked to. Also, ever since I opened this blog, I've been conscious enough to keep things strictly about me. If not about me, at least keep things objective.

Speaking my mind doesn't only apply to opinions though. I think it also is that risk of putting myself out there via this blog. People tend to be scared to let others know what they are actually feeling, what they are really capable of for fear of being ostracized. I get it though, it's part of our culture wherein people are afraid to be wrong. There's also this part of our culture wherein women were once treated as objects and not given a say in anything. Honestly though, isn't there anything more bad ass (and sexier) than having an opinion?

That being said, I've come to the conclusion that smart girls are not only the most beautiful but smart girls are also the most bad ass. Haha. And who said we were the meek nerdy types? ;P

How'd you spend your Friday?
I just got in after watching Olympus has fallen with my sisters and dad. We were literally at the edge of our seats! I may or may not have uttered a few choice words though, to ease the tension. haha :))

Be a bad girl and tell me what you think about this post!

  1. Really cute jacket and i love your loafers too. Oh man I can honestly say that I am all 5 of those things as well, I don't think it makes you a bad girl for say, but I think it makes you a strong women and that scares men and other people, making you a "bad" girl. But I'm ok with that because I know who i am! hehe :)
