Conundrum

8/17/2014

At Abreeza's Fashion Forum, Style Origin head stylist Luis Espiritu shared that you should always dress for the occasion. In this case, I tried to. It was a fashion show, specifically a designer one. Although it was held in the mall, I did want to dress up more than the usual casual way. I wore my maxi dress with my white blazer and miracle of miracles, I wore heels!

However, I somehow wished I didn't look like I made too much of an effort..cause I didn't. That's not to say I didn't spend time thinking of what to wear beforehand. Alam nyo naman ako, when I get invites, my mind goes overdrive thinking of what to wear. (Got to maximize those chances for outfit shots!) The fashion show lasted all of 15 minutes and I think I spent more time shopping and deciding to buy my blazer than the show. The outfit was a last minute choice, nagmukha lang talaga akong donya dahil sa necklace. :))

So my internal conundrum (or problem) is, for events like this, should I follow what the dress code states or should I play it by ear (or by sight)?

Usually, when we get invited to events, a few hours prior, we get into a frenzy and text each other (yep, you guessed it) "what are you gonna wear?" Sometimes, I have something prepared but most times I don't so I just play it by ear. So I usually end up wearing a Farrah version of what my friends say they are wearing. That's okay because at least I'd fit in as I dislike calling attention to myself. I think Davaoenos in general don't like calling attention to themselves, especially for the wrong reasons so they play it safe when dressing up. On the other hand, that could be a bad thing because how can Davao fashion move forward when we're stuck in the flow?

with my Rien-bunny :)

On another note though, this outfit (plus the background) made me feel like I was a (modern-day) princess getting picked up to go to the (Preview) ball.

What did you think? :)

PS. You know what, some people I know have been telling me that their friends (who know that we are friends) mention that they read my blog but I never get any feedback. If you read my blog, I'd love to hear from you! Sound off in the comments section below, pretty please? :)
