Abreeza Fashion Forum: Browhaus

10/04/2015

Ever since my first make-up class years ago, I started being conscious about my brows. At first, I couldn't get why people would keep having their brows cleaned. When I saw brow threading on TV, I couldn't imagine having that done on myself--it looked hella painful! But, fast forward to today, I'm one of those brow-conscious girls who keeps trying to get her friends and sisters to groom their brows. :))

Havaianas Obrigada 2015

3/15/2015

misc021

Every year, Martish, Southern Mindanao's exclusive sub-distributor of Havaianas, celebrates Obrigada ("Thank You" in Portuguese) with Davao's press and bloggers as a way of saying thank you for their support for the brand after all these years. It's also a chance for Havaianas to update the media on their latest activities and events as well as showcase their latest collection.  I've been invited no-fail to these gatherings and I've always loved attending! I always say Martish throws the best events--every little detail is painstakingly cared for, and this year's Obrigada was no exception!

A Touch of Marsala

2/02/2015

This year's Color of the Year is Marsala, an earthy wine red. As was last year, I had no doubt that this would be this year's color because as early as around October or November, I've been seeing merchandise left and right in this hue. It may seem tame (or boring to some) compared to last year's vibrant Radiant Orchid, but I still like the color. In fact, it's one of the colors I associate to the Fall season, and regular blog readers would know how much I love Fall/Winter dressing! :)

Abreeza Fashion Forum: Yosi Samra Holiday Collection

12/17/2014

When I found out that this month's Abreeza Fashion Forum was for Yosi Samra, I said yes immediately! First of all, I've heard so many raves about the brand and second, it was about shoes, and a girl can never have too many shoes. During the event, we learned more about the brand, as well as got a sneak peek at their holiday collection. :)

Eye of Horus now in Davao!

11/24/2014

Cult favorite brand Eye of Horus is now available in Davao!

Eye of Horus is an Australian make-up brand that looks to Ancient Egypt for inspiration. Their make-up range was created for women with sensitive eyes and brittle eyelashes. Their cosmetics are infused with beeswax, ricebran, candelilla and carnauba wax as well as moringa oil, their secret to an easy-gliding, long-wearing formula that is non-irritating. I was invited to the media launch at Echostore last November 7.

GNO at Mono

10/30/2014

Seeing me out partying is like seeing Haley's Comet: super rare! I seldom go out to party. I very much prefer a chill night out involving dinner and drinks, usually with people who know me best (high school friends, blogger buddies and cousins), although I make a few exceptions for events. ;) About two Fridays ago, Janvie, Davao's party prince, invited my bloggies and I to try out Mono After Office and Club Echelon.

Saging Repablik Bloggers' Night

10/13/2014

I took my last 4 exams today so hello sem break and hello blogging! Before I start posting about Japan, I have to get rid of a few backlogs first. So the night before I left for Manila a month ago, Saging Repablik invited a few bloggers over to try their latest menu offerings. Well, I've already tried and liked (and even written about Saging Repablik here!) so I  didn't mind paying another visit just to try some other items on the menu.

Abreeza Fashion Forum

7/24/2014

Last Thursday, I was privileged to be among the few to be invited to Abreeza's First Fashion Forum. It was like a prelude to Abreeza's Style Origin show (held during the weekend, which I'll be blogging about soon!), featuring a sneak peek. Clothes that would possibly be worn at the community fashion show from selected merchants like SOUL Lifestyle, Dorothy Perkins, FOX, Just G, Gingersnaps and the Original Penguin were on display. We also had Style Origin's head stylist Luis Espiritu as a guest speaker.

Orange You Glad

5/25/2014

When I found out that the Tomato Time event would be held at Marco Polo (and on a Sunday too, no less!), I thought of wearing something country club chic. I love the whole vibe of their pool area and thought it would be a perfect backdrop for an outfit like this.

Tomato Time in Davao!

5/21/2014

Tomato is a brand that's always been familiar to me mainly because I patronize it. I especially love their bags and blazers which are stylish and come at affordable price points. So, when I got invited to the press conference for the launch of Tomato Time in Davao, of course I said yes! Add to the fact that JC de Vera, Tomato Time's new celebrity endorser and one of the hottest leading men in showbiz, was going to be there..I was sold! HAHA.

SPLICED: FIDA Gradshow Presscon

4/25/2014

Last Wednesday, I was invited to the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FIDA) presscon for their second graduation show entitled SPLICED: Where Fashion and Film Collide. It will be held at 5pm tomorrow, April 26, 2014 at the SM Lanang Premier Atrium and everyone's invited to attend! The show will feature the works of the 13 graduates of FIDA Davao. The graduates of the 1-year (intensive) Fashion Design course will feature a 7-piece collection. Meanwhile, the graduates of the 2-year Fashion Design course will feature a 12-piece collection. The lone Fashion Branding and Merchandising student, Daphne Balagtas, will be styling a set featuring clothes from Forever 21.

StyLIZed Davao Book Tour

4/22/2014

A few days before school officially ended, I attended the Davao leg of the StyLIZed Book Tour at SM Lanang Premier. I'm not a super big fan of artistas (like there are a few I would sell my kidneys to have a photo taken with) but instead I turn into a fan girl for stylists, fashion industry people, athletes and models. Is that weird of me? Anyway, I went to this event not as a blogger but as a legit fan, out of my own volition. Who best to attend this event with than my style sisters, Lorraine and Mithi? :)

Obrigada 2014

3/27/2014

Last March 12, Martish invited some friends from the media (including us bloggers) and a few of it's loyal clientele & VIPs to Obrigada 2014 at the Northcrest Ballroom. Martish Marketing Co. is the exclusive distributor of Havaianas in Southern Mindanao and holds Obrigada ('thank you' in Portuguese) annually to thank everyone for the support for the previous year. At the same time, they also use the time to launch a new collection.

I've been really privileged to have been able to attend Obrigada. From 2012's green eco-chic theme to last year's nautical theme (which I wasn't able to go to!) and this year's vintage summer theme, Obrigada just keep getting bigger and better!

Grunge Glam

7/29/2013

This is what I wore to the day of my actual birthday last Friday. In my last post, I've written in detail how I've spent the day (you can refer to that if you wanna know haha), This is what I wore to lunch with my family and to the Bauhaus event afterwards. To me, Bauhaus gives off a sort of rock/grunge vibe and that's what I had in mind while picking out the outfit.

Busy Week

7/18/2013

My Thursdays afternoons are usually reserved for blogging. My class ends at 12:30 on Thursdays and since it's Friday the next day, there's not much left to do, academics-wise. Since it's usually a 4-day gap between the latest post from the last one, all my stories accumulate. Not that I have a lot to tell about my life anyway; a bulk of my blog entries come from my musings, observations (of random people HAHA) and brain farts.

This month (my BIRTHDAY MONTH *yaaaay*) is probably one of the busiest yet best months of my 2013. I'd just gotten back from my 3-day retreat yesterday and I woke up to a busy day. Awhile ago, I had a shoot for FBTV. And actually, I just got back from my cousin's surprise debut party. I had to leave earlier cause tomorrow, I'll have my talk at NCCC and then on Monday, exam week starts. How about that for a busy birthday month? I'm extremely thankful though, especially since YOU guys helped me reach 100,000 page views!!  I don't know exactly when or how that happened (or who was the 100,000th hit) but thank you. I never imagined maintaining a blog that's reached 100,000 views! So even though it's late, I just had to blog. :) #blessed

End of the Year

12/31/2012

I was supposed to make this an "End of the World" post but I was pressed for time and I hoped as well that the world wouldn't actually end. I got my wish, the world hasn't ended so far so today's  post is for the end of the year.

2012 has been one helluva roller coaster ride. I started out ACTIVE in the blogging scene (always at events and stuff, even organizing one!), but later on I realized I had to de-clutter my life (both online and offline) so I lay low. I started blogging about things I believed in and when I felt like it. To sum up my year in 3 words:

acceptance. streamlining. mellow.

As I write this entry, I realize how FULL my year was. I thought it was boring but andami palang ganap! However, in the latter part (October/November dark ages) I had to let go of a few things. I somehow don't regret it though. I believe it's best to start another year with less baggage to make room for the blessings that are about to come in.

Obrigado 2012

2/02/2012

I started out my week really busy. I had school in the morning and a event and shoot for SOUL Lifestyle in the afternoon.

I was invited by my cousin ate Marga, to the Havaianas media lunch called Obrigado. Obrigado is the Portuguese word for "Thank You". And certainly, Havaianas has so much to be thankful for. Ate Marga and our cousin, ate Tisha brought Havaianas to Mindanao in 2005. Six (ongoing seven) years later, they are going strong!
