Dressv Sexy Long Homecoming Dresses 2014

photo from eonline.com

Awards season is over but I noticed that during the time, a LOT of celebrities chose to sport different shades of blue. During the 2014 SAG Awards alone, celebrities such as Amy Adams, Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin were spotted in the cool hue. Who could also forget the Oscar's  Best Supporting Actress Lupita Nyong'o in that blue Prada gown? She was the epitome of perfection! I'm actually torn between which is my favorite blue dress look--the other one being Kate Middleton in that blue Issa dress which she wore when she and Prince William announced their engagement. I, too, love blue, particularly navy, because it can exude either class, elegance, sophistication or fun, depending on the shade! Plus, I also look good in it. Hihi. That being said, dressv.com, one of my trusted go-to online shops which customizes gowns according to your size and preference, is no short of having a wide selection of blue sexy (homecoming) dresses.

For example, these cute homecoming dresses from dressv.com can be worn to occasions other than just homecoming! For instance, June is famous for being month for weddings, but there are also a lot of people that get married in July (duh Farrah, people get married all year round!!) In fact, my cousin's getting married the day before my birthday! If you're attending a wedding or even if you're not, here are some tips I can give you to wear dressv.com's homecoming dresses for any occasion.

Dressv Colored Wedding Dresses 2014

4/04/2014

A purist at heart, I've always believed that brides should walk the aisle in a white dress. However, you can't deny that times are changing and brides are more liberal nowadays. A lot of them go for colored wedding dresses. Jessica Biel went for a pink wedding dress and Avril Lavigne stayed true to her skater girl image and went for a black wedding dress to her second gothic-themed wedding. Sarah Jessica Parker also went against the norm and showed us why she's a fashion icon by going for a black wedding dress. You don't have to go that drastic by pulling off boldly colored wedding dresses though; pink or blush is usually a popular choice for most brides. Among other popular colors are ivory, daffodil, champagne or silver.

Shop in Spotlight: okdress.co.uk

buy here

Some companies have been e-mailing me telling me to check out their sites but on principle, I don't advertise sites that I personally don't like. One such shop is okdress.co.uk. They are an online shop that specializes in made to order dresses and gowns so unlike other online shops which have ready-made gowns, if you don't fit in a specific size (like maybe the dress fits perfectly but then it's too short on you), then this is the shop for you! My top pick are their strapless mermaid prom dresses.

My (Secret) Shopping Spots

11/22/2012

While waiting for Gossip Girl to finish downloading, I thought of doing a random post of where I buy my clothes. I'm not really a fan of spending exorbitant amounts of money on clothes (if I were to spend from my own pocket, I'd spend 1500php TOPS on an article of clothing. But if it were my parents' money, well, that's another story :)) ) Anyway, my favorite shops that are available locally Forever 21, Topshop and Dorothy Perkins but the latter two can get really pricey so I don't get to buy as often. Local brands that have nice clothes that are reasonably priced (for plus-sized girls like me) are Human, Oxygen and Tomato (well for bags and shoes). For shops which haven't reached our shores yet, I LOVE H&M. I have yet to check Ever New and Cotton On, two retail chains which have recently reached Manila shores. And if you're wondering what I think of Mango and Zara, well, they are the most fashion-forward of the set.

Wishlist: Jolie Moi

7/14/2012

Found this new shop Jolie Moi via Wickedying's blog. I checked it out and saw that even though they had fewer clothing choices than other online shops, these were well chosen. I love the fact that they have SIZES, Like for this leather jacket, they have it til size 14! That is good news for European sized Asians like me, whose choices when it comes to clothes are limited online.

Stuff from Multiply

7/05/2012

Pardon the boring title but I just couldn't think of anything creative!

Just showing you what I got using the Multiply Discount Code they gave at the Multiply event about 2 weeks ago. I got myself Nyx Lip Cream in Tokyo (photo on the right shows me wearing it. I love it cause it just looks natural) and I got my mother Milani Illuminating Face Powder, which can act as a blush, bronzer and highlighting powder. Both are from Digital Traincase.

I also got this book from Books for Keeps because I couldn't think of what clothes to get and I was scared they might not fit. Personally, I think my subconscious is telling me to take a break from fashion and go back to my nerdy bibliophile self. Besides, I read the first 2 books of Queen of Babble and I was dying to know what happened. BTW, she didn't end up with the guy I was rooting for! In the 1st and 2nd book, he sounded so perfect. In the 3rd book, he behaved like a total ass. (Yes, I finished reading it already!)

A tip:
Follow Multiply on twitter (@shopatmultiply). Every so often, they have this thing called Multiply Discount Frenzy wherein they tweet discount codes so you can shop and save as much as 500php!

Manila tomorrow!

Wishlist Wednesday: coats from OASAP

7/04/2012

Vintage Royal Double Breasted Denim CoatDouble Breasted Collarless Coat with Epaulets
Long Length Double Breasted Coat with Standing Collar
Army Style Double Breasted Worsted Trench Coat with Belted Waist
Long Elegant Apricot Double-breasted Coat with Exquisite Waistband

A few days ago, I blogged about my fascination for capes. Now, I am showing you some coats that I am lusting for over at OASAP. I don't know what it is about me and clothing that I may never get the chance to wear here in our tropical country, but yeah. I am in love with the first coat, which reminds me of Balmain Spring '09. The 2nd-4th are very Upper East Side, and all are double breasted. And the khaki coat, I would love to have for less cold days. You can click on the links to view them on OASAP. :)

What do you think? :)

Blanc et Noir

6/04/2012

Yesterday, while Manila had Bloggers United 3, I spent my day out with my friends Mithi, Lea and Jane. We went to watch Snow White and the Huntsman. It was good considering it was Kristen Stewart but I thought it was a mixture of different movies like Harry Potter (Mithi couldn't get why but just watch it and tell me if you didn't feel a Harry Potter influence), Narnia and a few others I forgot. We ate dinner at Lachi's, but Jane had to leave after and so Mithi, Lea and I had nothing left to do. We were driving aimlessly around the city then Mithi had this brilliant idea to drop by Blanc et Noir over at Casa de Habana compound.

Printastic!

4/04/2012

Summer 2012 will (or is? cause it's summer already) all about pastels, lightweight airy fabrics (sheer), color blocking and of course, prints. Here are some pretty retro-style dresses I've picked from Lyst.com. Stand out from a sea of brights and still have fun with these whimsical prints.

Aggravated Shopping

3/02/2012

My mom and close friends know that if I buy stuff for myself using my own money, I tend to be a fickle shopper who gets buyer's remorse after! I like shopping alone so when I find something I like, I immediately call them up and ask "Should I buy this?" Then right after I pay for my purchases, I call them up again and tell them "I shouldn't have bought this! I feel so guilty!"
I don't know why that happens, though it never does when I buy food! Haha :-)

Anyway, I kind of had a bad day at school. Some events just made me so aggravated! You can just read why on my Twitter if you wanna know cause I don't want to rant here.

I went to the mall to do some errands after class. I went inside through the bookstore. I wanted to buy this book by Nick Hornby but it was too expensive. It was funny cause I was browsing through the shelves then I chanced upon the Gossip Girl book! I plucked it out and it was 184.50php. The others were all regular price! So, lucky me! =)) It's funny cause I've always wanted this book. I chanced upon this Pretty Little Liars book at the discount pile while I waited in line. I don't know why it was on sale; it's still in really good condition! I got it for 99php :)

I went to the newly-opened Love Diva here in Davao to get the accessories I've been eyeing since I first visited. I got a necklace with a lip pendant (I dunno, I just have a penchant for lip-shaped stuff!), maroon cloth necklace and a mustache necklace for my sister. They have a sale rack with stuff at 200php each, but if you buy 3, you get it at 500php! No regrets since the maroon necklace alone looks like it costs more than 500 bucks! I was so inspired that I want to create my own! If only I had time.

Anyway, it's March!!! I've announced the giveaway winner on my Twitter account and I messaged her on Facebook already. Still picking out my winner for the best answer! =)

Grecian Inspired Prom ideas

2/11/2012

It's prom season again!

I don't know why but I always link prom with a Grecian theme. Perhaps because I've always wanted to sashay, transformed, into prom a la Taylor Swift in her "You Belong with Me" music video. Prom is believed to be the night where all dreams come true after all. But alas, I learned at an early age that it is not the case. Still, it hasn't stopped me from dreaming of that day when I can wear my Grecian goddess outfit.

I saw this Reem Acra gown on Lyst.com.
Its jeweled straps and the flowy pleated skirt (plus the white color!) take me to the days of the Greecian goddesses.

Reem Acra V Neck Gown with Jeweled Straps in White (ivory)

Although at $5060, it's just too pricey for students.
