A Touch of Marsala

This year's Color of the Year is Marsala, an earthy wine red. As was last year, I had no doubt that this would be this year's color because as early as around October or November, I've been seeing merchandise left and right in this hue. It may seem tame (or boring to some) compared to last year's vibrant Radiant Orchid, but I still like the color. In fact, it's one of the colors I associate to the Fall season, and regular blog readers would know how much I love Fall/Winter dressing! :)

Earthy Marsala is one of my favorite accent colors if I want to make a (subtle) statement cause it's bold, it's elegant (it's almost a neutral in my book) and it makes my skin look fairer. Here's a Marsala look I came up with a few weeks ago. It's one of my favorite looks to date because it's simple, easy, stylish and fuss-free.

Notice how I just accented my outfit with the marsala hat? Wearing a trend doesn't mean the trend has to wear you. Try incorporating a few accents here and there to keep your look updated.

Last Thursday, for my first official blogger event of 2015, I attended Abreeza Mall's monthly Fashion Forum. This month's Fashion Forum featured stylist/make-up artist/M Magazine's Fashion and Beauty editor Otoi Mercado as the guest speaker to talk about 2015 trends.

He styled some looks in Marsala, featuring clothes from Abreeza Mall's merchants. Here's a look from SOUL Lifestyle that I love. (unang tingin palang, very SOUL na agad ang peg/vibe!)

Lutz in a casual look from Penguin, with shoes from Sneaker Club. Loved the look more when Otoi folded the sleeves of the button down jacket.

Another look from SOUL. I didn't like it with the dress alone. Here's a work to party outfit, with marsala flats from Yosi Samra.

Favorite boyfriend peg denim chambray look featuring clothes from Gap. You can tie the sweater on the waist too.

A sporty look I love--maybe because of the joggers? Haha! Every lazy dressing advocate should have a pair at least. :)

Here's a beautiful glam look featuring a shift dress from Dorothy Perkins. Love this only too much! Maizy (who I was with that night) was ready to drop by the store and get herself one! Perfect for everyday errands, travelling or work.

This year's trends are no different than last year's. Denim's still in, so is black and white. Then again, when have they ever been out of style? I guess what I'm saying is, the trend nowadays is leaning towards the more classic pieces. No more trying hard loud colors of the 2011-2012 era! (Finally!) Still, like I always say, wear whatever you want as long as you're comfortable and you feel good about yourself. Trends are just there to "guide" you and make your look a bit more interesting.
