BLOG GIVEAWAY WINNER

10/16/2011

Sorry for the very late post lovelies! I was really busy the past week, ironing out details for my online shop (feel free to check us out on facebook and multiply), as well as attending to school-related stuff. I can’t believe it’s mid-October already, and my ‘mini-vacation’ is almost up! This semester went by really fast! Anyway, I already did the choosing of the giveaway winner but the day I was going to type up the entry, there was a problem with the systems at Globe (our internet provider). We had no internet for 4 days, so now I am a mess because I have a lot of backlogged entries due, a lot of e-mails to send and my facebook bakery to tend to!

Anyway, I’m sure you don’t want to hear my rant. So, here it is, the moment of truth. First of all, thank you to everyone who joined. Since I just re- launched my blog, it’s quite a huge deal to have had 26, erm, 25 people (I disqualified one for not following the mechanics) to join. Of the 25 people who joined, there were 191 entries! I encoded these entries on Excel and used random.org/lists to shuffle the names.

I then used their random generator to pick 2 numbers. And the winners are:

1st prize: Bachuchay

2nd prize: agnes espino

Congratulations guys! I will be e-mailing you, and if you do not respond in 48 hours, I will pick another winner.

Many thanks also to Mr. Jeffrey Siy of Boy-kuripot and Manila Life who posted a link to the giveaway on their blogs. I got a lot of traffic from their site. Thank you also to Ms.Melody Tinoy for helping me get these goodies for the giveaway!

Stay tuned because I am planning to do more giveaways! Like our Facebook page guys, we might be doing a little giveaway once we reach 250 likes! J

Blogger's Food Tasting

Last October 5, I was invited to attend a food tasting event at the Davao Royale House Travel Inn and Suites, located at CM Recto Street. It was the second bloggers event I participated in since I joined the Davao Bloggers group. The food tasting was held in One10FM bar (I thought it was a radio station at first!), which is a pretty cool place to hold a party. Too bad I didn’t take pictures of the place!

We were invited to try 20 different kinds of donburi dishes. Having been exposed to a lot of Japanese food lately, when I first heard this, I thought, “20?! How many ways can the Japanese cook chicken, pork, beef or fish that I do not know of already?” Apparently though, their donburi was the rawest sense of the word donburi, meaning rice bowl or what we know as rice toppings.

Some of the dishes served were teriyaki (chicken, beef and pork), which were good, since they ran out the fastest, and favorite Filipino fare such as beef steak, picadillo, kambing, cream dory, pork adobo and shawarma. Each dish came with a spicy side dish, its unifying factor, which if I heard correct, was made of cucumber. The adobo was quite bland, and did not go well with the side dish. On the other hand, the shawarma was too flavorful for my taste but complemented the side dish quite nicely. After a while though, the dishes end up tasting the same, leaving a quite unpleasant aftertaste (nakakaumay).

If you are not too particular about taste and are just looking to satisfy your hunger, this place offers a good deal at PHP70-80 for a large sized bowl. Believe me when I say your hunger will be satisfied. I only stayed long enough to try out about 10 dishes and even if I just had a few spoonfuls from each, I left the place satiated! By the way, I say not very particular with taste since I am a very picky eater. If you are like me, who is picky, and just happen to get to eat here, I say go for the chicken teriyaki bowl.

Thank you to ate Karla Singson for inviting me.

Thrifted

10/03/2011

So, remember how I said I was gonna try to post some outfit shots? (If not, read here) Well, here is one from waaaay back in March. It was my friend Mithi's 20th birthday, and we celebrated it in Gino's Pizza in Katipunan. Afterwards, we had dessert at Casa Xocolat. It was a chill night, a rare one where a few friends all get to dinner. If you're in college, you'd know sometimes it's so hard to catch up with your whole (high school) group! But this was really a nice occasion cause Lian, our friend from La Salle, came all the way to Katipunan to eat with us! If I remember correctly, it rained that night (which explains why my espadrilles are all icky). I really hate it when it rains hard and you have to walk out, don't you? To borrow a quote from a friend, the rain just rapes your flats!

Anyway, rambling aside, here is what I wore that night:

I wore a thrifted vest from the UK (as in ukay), tank top from Greenhills, random jeans, silver leaf chain necklace (which is actually a belt I think) from my mom, hat from a bazaar and black and white striped espadrilles from Faridez. Faridez is a store in Gaisano Mall Davao, although a little visit to Google tells me they have branches in The Block at SM North Edsa as well.

I was inspired by Kate Moss' effortless style. It really is quite unfair how someone can look so polished and put together even though she looks as if she just threw on the first thing she saw. Well, I guess those are one of the perks of being a supermodel! Anyway, I wore this outfit to school beforehand and my friends from my org (I was still applying then!) teased me that I looked as if I was going to a party! Was I?

And they, as with almost all people I encounter who ask when I tell them I got this particular item of clothing from ukay, were also curious as to how much I got this vest. Aren't you?
