And We'll Never Be..Florals

2/16/2014

Since Valentine's Day is officially over, I now officially usher in the summer season with this outfit! :)

Nothing says spring/summer more than floral printed clothes; they're a staple in every Spring/Summer show. Although I've always wanted to wear floral pieces, they seemed too dainty for me, especially floral dresses. So, I've never had anything floral..until now. Needless to say, this is actually my first time wearing floral prints on my blog. Yay!

After taking this (personal) fashion risk, I've come to conclude that they aren't so bad. I used to think that they could add bulk, especially floral printed tops (like what I'm wearing. *horrors*) but with the right cut, they can actually look flattering. The top I'm wearing which I got from a bazaar, is a hanging top and one of the trendier tops now. I thought I'd look pregnant in it, but it hides my midsection well, which is all and more than I could ask for. Haha! Both my skirt and top are bazaar finds by the way, but I dressed them up with some heels so you wouldn't even know that they came from the bazaar. Low-priced finds + more expensive designer pieces = a high/low outfit. Now I feel very Alexa Chung-cool!

And since it's summer AND since it's my first time wearing florals, who am I to pass up an opportunity to be in mixed prints? (haha excuses. I just really love trying out print on print outfits) On my count, this is my 5th mixed print outfit. I've tried stripes on animal print, polka hearts on tribal print, polka hearts on stripes and polka hearts on animal print among others but this is the first time I'm doing florals and stripes. I've mentioned previously that this combination is probably the easiest and most basic one if you wanna try out a mixed print outfit. And just to adhere to the theme, I asked Pat to take my outfit shots in a flower shop! Haha. I look like I'm waiting for my Valentine's Day date, which could be possible cause the outfit looks like something I'd wear on a date anyway too! (Hey date, I'm still waiting for my flowers! Haha)
