Leafy Green Things

11/07/2011

A month delayed post. I didn't get around to posting this because we eat around a lot and I don't want you all to keep reading about my food adventures. when this is primarily a personal style/fashion blog. (Conscious, cause I think there was a time I had two consecutive food posts)

Anyway, last month, after the Blogger's Food Tasting, my mom and I stopped by a place called Leafy Green Things on the way home. I suggested it cause I knew my mom wanted to check out that place. She was such a trooper for accompanying me to the food tasting event.

I love the place. Located near Rego Pasta Express and Johnny's Cupcakes (or is it Jonathan's cupcakes?), it is a small an quiet place, a far cry from the noisy restos in the mall. Sometimes you just want to eat in peace, you know?

The salda preparation area was so cute with all the ingredients looking so colorful and organized. Sorry for the blurry photos. My camera's battery ran out at the event so I was forced to use my phone.

My mom ordered a Caesar's salad and avocado shake.

Too cute, right? :) Hi mom!

Well, I normally do not eat salad but I took a little nibble out of my mom's salad and it was delicious! It was well-blended. Even my mom said their salad is comparable to my grandma's Caesar salad...and my grandma makes the best salad! However, the leaves tasted quite old :(

Probably because they are stored there. But the case looks pretty cool, right? :)
Different kinds of leaves stored in there--arugula, lettuce, romaine lettuce, etc.

Leafy Green Things is located at R3 Valencia Corp Center, Arellano St. Davao City

Trend Spotting: Sheer

11/05/2011

I noticed the sheer trend making its rounds on the blogosphere. From tops to skirts and cover-ups, no doubt we'll be seeing more of this trend.

Camille Co and Cheyser Pedregosa show us their take on the trend by wearing tops by SummerSault. Camille keeps her look polished by tucking her top into a pair of tan pants of while Cheyser keeps up with her whole effortless and relaxed vibe by pairing her top with a long necklace, skirt and boots.

Vern Enciso shows us that sheer need not be only limited to tops and skirts. She uses the sheer blazer to tone down her fringe top and tassel necklace.

Laureen Uy and Pauline Prieto love their sheer skirts! Laureen takes her skirt to fashion week, glamming it up with an animal printed top, a chunky necklace and Charlotte Olympia wedges. Pauline, also spotted at fashion week dresses down her skirt Coachella-inspired, showing us that effortlessly stylish model off-duty look we love.

Most important thing to keep in mind while wearing this trend is to wear the right undergarments.
So, how are you wearing this trend?

Vera Wang F/W 2011

11/04/2011

People who know me best know how much I love weddings! I love looking through wedding sites, Tumblr wedding sites and designers' wedding gown designs. I love wedding photography--it looks hard but I think the results truly pay off--and of course, wedding dresses! I love the girly feel it brings--tons and tons of chiffon, tulle. And although there are also structural and classic wedding gowns, think about it, it still has that girly element to it. Doesn't every bride feel like that little girl they once were, finally getting their dream come true?

I just haven't gotten around posting about weddings on this blog though, cause you guys might think I want to get hitched already! No way, highway! Anyway, every bride-to-be has a go-to designer in mind when it comes to wedding dresses and that is Vera Wang.

Vera Wang creates the most gorgeous, ethereal, feminine dresses. It's like her hand was as light as a feather while sketching. If I were to be a wedding gown designer, how I wish I could be half as good as her. I looked through her website and here are some of my favorites. Most of them came from the F/W 2011 collection.

This dress is called the Harlow from the S/S 2012 collection. Classic ballgown shape. Perfect for the unconventional bride who doesn't wanna wear white. (BTW, did you ever notice that Vera loves cinching the waist with a sash?)
