Oscars 2013

2/27/2013

The Oscar's were held last Sunday in the States (Monday morning here) and I was so glad cause we didn't have class but then I thought "There aren't any local channels televising the Oscars" so I got sad and updated myself through Twitter instead. When I got online, I found out that they televised it on Studio 23 but by then my butt was parked firmly onto the computer so I didn't watch. When I checked my Facebook messages the next day, I got one from my friend asking if I'd make a post about my picks for the shows. So, CaLee, here it is. :))

Again I'm quite disappointed about the turn-out fashion-wise this year. :(  Trends I spotted were that the gowns leaned towards the lighter colors like nudes, whites, champagnes. There were also colors like blue but Jennifer Aniston's red BALL GOWN felt so out of place. I didn't love her look at all. It was like her waking up one day and playing dress-up with a ball gown!

Anyway, my favorites:
Photobucket
Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive
Total glamour puss!! I loved her look at last year's Oscars and I loved it again too!

The Wind In My Hair

Such a weird title for the post but I couldn't think of anything! I think I'm finding myself stuck in another rut--writing-wise and outfit-wise! School's ending in less than a month from now and before that, as of now I have 4 major requirements to accomplish: my English portfolio, reports and experiments (+ packaging!) for the upcoming Engineering and Architecture Fair (that's March 8-9 at Abreeza), my FILIPINO RESEARCH PAPER, and our Literature play (say whuut!). It's funny cause most of those requirements are from my minor subjects and they make me feel like I'm in high school, like the play. I would much rather write a play review or something, or maybe that's just me.
Anyway enough of the ranting. This is what I wore to our blogger Valentine dinner last Feb 16. Upon inspection of my planner last year, I found out that our first blogger dinner at K-Steak (for chikka sake lang) was held Feb 17! So I thought maybe this should be made a tradition soon! :) Sadly, not everyone we invited was able to go due to last minute constraints so it was again just me, Dawn and Kwesh basically but Steph and Janvie dropped by. Plus, we also got to meet Ella. We ate at Bon Apetit at GMall. It was our first time there. I don't have photos of the food (and of us) though cause my sister borrowed my camera as it was her prom night that night too.
I wanted to wear something casual, chill and posh--like the rich classy girls wear for Sunday lunch or a casual dinner with friends. I wish I wore pants though, it was freezing that night!! Anyway, I don't know if I pulled it off but I hope I did! Haha
Enjoy the last day of the long weekend!!
(Thank God for it, I'm doing my paper and it's hard to translate scientific stuff to Tagalog)

Not Myself

Denim on denim.

As a girl who lives in her jeans, I thought I could do this trend. I thought I could pull it off. But if isn't apparent from my uncomfortable smiles up there (meh), I just can't rock this kind of casual. My kind of casual is classic-casual. I'm not saying denim isn't classic (I consider a well-fitting pair a must-have) but I really think my style tends to gravitate towards a more mature sensibility. Simply put, I just cannot rock this hipster/skater girl chenerloo kinda thing. This is more of my sister's style.

I went with the whole hipster (bohemian? neo-bohemian?) vibe with the something vintage (I am not so sure if hipsters really do have a tinge of vintage but well, my sister always has this throwback offbeat item in her outfit so gow, ako na din). I made sure it adheres to my sensibilities though and used this old Gucci bag of my grandmother's.

I will probably attempt at this again in the future but pair it with jeggings. I am not much of a leg-baring person to begin with.

On another personal (and boring, rant-y) note, I have some plates to deal with but I feel too lazy to! :|
This drawing subject of mine is getting to be such a pain, especially now during the isometric drawing part. I hated it when I was in high school, I hated it in UP and up to now, I still hate it. I would rather solve math problems. My dislike for iso drawing + the fact that the sem's end is near = tamaditis.
Must. continue. doing. them. though :o

Literally, back to the drawing board for me!
Goodnight!!

Golden Globes 2012

1/16/2012

This is my first time in about 3 years to miss the Golden Globes. The past few years, I was at my aunt's place cause we didn't have class during Mondays. Good thing there's the internet to rely on for outfit photos!

Here are my picks for best dressed:

Emma Stone

Emma Stone

I love her!
Aside from her funny personality, I love how she always takes fashion risks. She's not scared to be on the worst dressed list. I love this brown/burgundy/maroon (I dont know my colors anymore!) dress on her by Lanvin. It looks good on her plus the flow of the fabric on her body is love. (Or am I just really biased with flowy fabric?)
