All my graaaades are in! And I made it! I'll be graduating this April 2! FINALLY.
Anyway, before I make my MEGA post thanking everyone, I want to recognize the teachers who have made my college life memorable. A majority of them made my years in college memorable not cause of the grades I got from them (although there are a few whose classes I did excel at) but because of the lessons I picked from them. I appreciate all my profs so it was HARD to narrow down the list to 7. These are arranged according to the semester I took them.
I realize Valentine's Day was yesterday but as I was going through my drafts, I found this blog post from a year ago that I didn't get to write. So anyway, if you've been as single as long as I have, sometimes you just get so used to having yourself as company, especially when your friends already make plans with their SOs or when you get lazy to plan something (especially when you get lazy to plan an outing haha. I mean, I just want to show up and not worry about logistics)
Some people may think it's sad but I see it as a good thing. After spending so much time with yourself, you get to know yourself more. And, you can also be selfish--selfish with what you want to do during your free time and how long. That being said, it surprises me sometimes when people I know confess that they have never done any of the things on this list because they're scared. It's fun kaya! I highly encourage you to try doing just one thing on this list. It's not as scary as it sounds, I promise!
It's been a month since my last post. I don't know anyone but myself who cares that I haven't been updating, but if ever there's still someone that does check my blog from time to time for a new post, forgive me (again) for neglecting my blog.
Can you believe there's less than a week left in January--which means..graduation season is just just just around the corner! (I hope posting this doesn't jinx my graduating) It's so close yet so far! I'm excited yet exhausted. So exhausted.
I wanted to share with you some of my goals which I listed down when I knew that I would be graduating later than usual. I did this so that my being delayed wouldn't have gone to a complete waste. You know how I mentioned previously that I love lists, right? Well, it's super helpful to remind you of your goals and what you need to accomplish. It's also such a nice feeling to look back on the list and see how far you've come--how much you've actually accomplished without knowing so!
This is kind of an awkward topic to blog about only because it's so personal and a glaringly obvious part of me that I don't want to call any more attention to..but I can't help it. There are days I love my curves and there are days (like now) that they really bother me because they prevent me from doing things I want to do. I know a lot of girls who are so conscious of their flat chests, but as a girl whose chest is not as level as a plateau..let me tell you, being "gifted" is not all that. Here are 7 reasons why:
It's officially 100 days before Christmas!
I think 100 days is enough time to save up on money for presents before all your money goes to other stuff you have to pay for. I've had times wherein I had little to no money at all when I need it and I don't want that to ever happen to me again so I like having a fallback. While I'm still a student, I don't have a huge source of income yet so if I want extra money, I can either work for it or save. I used to work, but it's tough to now that I have a full load in school, so I save. I realized that living in the Philippines can be pretty cheap when you live a frugal lifestyle. Here are a few things I've learned to scrimp on so I can have a little extra for saving or for going out.
After n long years, I have finally been promoted to my 5th and graduating year--and just finished the first week! The first week alone was tiring already but hopefully the year goes off without much hitches (failing grade scares), save for the ones I'm already expecting (thesis woes). My earlier years in college were fun yet tinged with turbulence and fraught with difficulty (of course). But that doesn't matter now as I think I'm more than ready to move to the next stage of my life. I hope I finish the school year in one piece to make everything 100% official!
There are lots of good feelings in the world. Like for example, getting ice cream on a hot day, not having to wear pants on a hot day, rain after a particularly hot day, to name a few. Notice how it's all about hot days??? It's been really hot lately and it's making me complain a LOT. So in the spirit of trying to have an attitude of gratitude, I've compiled some of my favorite feelings in the world that make me smile no matter what, when I think of them. In no particular order:
Happy National Siblings Day!
In honor of this occasion, I created a list inspired by today's "holiday". A little background: I'm the eldest in a brood of 5. We're 4 girls and the youngest is a boy, just like the movie "Four Sisters and a Wedding" (my parents waited for a boy. LOL). One of my sisters is currently working in Manila. And recently, one of my sisters went to Manila to watch the OneDirection concert so there were 3 of us left here. I don't know, even though there were still three of us left home, the house still felt unnervingly quiet. I guess I'm just used to having a lot of people home. So even though I get annoyed of belonging to a big family from time to time (especially when I want something expensive and I have to make way since there are other children to consider #eldestproblems), I don't think I would have it any other way.
PS. It's so hard to narrow things down to just 7!
I've always been acutely aware of how good of a goody-two-shoes I am--I was never one of the cool girls nor part of the cool group at school, I was socially awkward and I never rebelled. I grew up never really feeling confident in myself--except when it came to academics cause I knew in that, I at least had a fighting chance--until I went to college when I met my group of friends and they showed me that I had something to offer to the world. Even now that I'm not so much of a good girl, I think I still can't shake the good girl perception people have of me. Did you grow up like me too? Read on to find out:
When I was studying in UP (mostly in my first year anyway), my friends and I would troop to coffee shops along Katipunan during finals week to go on dates with our books, camp out and do our papers. A big part of the reason why we did it was cause our dorm did not have internet then, so it was a necessity. There were also fringe benefits like seeing cute guys around while studying. =)) (#medyomalandi but hello, wag na tayong magplastikan, we need inspiration while studying)
I don't frequent coffee shops in Davao as I did in Manila. We have internet at home, I'm trying to cut back on spending and calories (haha!) and I find it counterproductive to stay up all night to study (I need my sleep if I'm to function well in the morning). Sometimes though, having to study in a coffee shop can't be avoided, especially when I can't concentrate at home or when I have group work. I'm not a med or a law student but I think I've been to enough coffee shops to know which ones are most conducive to studying (at least for me), which one has the cute guys (*wink*) and which one is open 24/7. In honor of Finals Week, I present to you my list of 7 of the best coffee shops to study at in Davao. I picked 7 cause that's my favorite number although I admit it was hard to narrow the list down to 7! :)
