Thoughts on Turning 24

This year, my parents celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Born a year and 6 days after they got married, I had a different vision of what my life would be like when they did. When I was younger, I thought that by the time I would be 24, I would be working and able to afford to send them on a trip abroad as a surprise. I thought by the time I turned 24, I'd be living on my own and maybe even have someone special. But, life sure doesn't work the way you want it to.

Birthday Suit

I can't believe it's been a week already since I celebrated my 23rd birthday!

23 sounds so old but I sure don't feel that way. This was probably one of, if not, THE quietest birthday celebration I've had. I guess I said that of my birthday a few times already but this year, it felt most true. I guess my mistake was that I was looking forward to my actual birthday too much and expected everything to go perfectly, etc. I just put unnecessary pressure on myself so I invariably ended up disappointed. My birthday felt quiet because I didn't get to celebrate it with people outside of my family. We had lunch at Tiny Kitchen, dropped by Echostore and went home. My grandma got me a laptop though, my 3rd laptop given to me on my birthday in 5 years! I got one for my 18th birthday, got the (work) laptop from Mimi and Jun on my 21st and this one from my lola for my 23rd! That's the funniest coincidence, isn't it?

Anyway, this is what I wore on short notice. These are all old pieces I put together. I was supposed to wear that Banggood necklace I wore here but I didn't want to be too overdressed. I still wanted to look polished though. This is something I think a 23-year old would wear, but the pose above isn't something I think a 23-year old would do though! Haha (but yay for being able to do pull-ups)

Wishlist Wednesday: Birthday

It's my birthday on Saturday so I thought about doing a wishlist post cause I haven't done one in a long time! Reading back on my old wishlist made me appreciate how much I've changed the past two years. The things I want this year are much simpler and definitely more realistic. I feel like right now, it is better to get what you want (for the meantime) than torture yourself over the things you can't have. Baby steps.   So as of now, I don't really want anything lavish. For starters, I want

1) A boxing membership at Empire Boxing Davao.   I got into boxing late last year and I love it! However, I found out recently that my boxing trainer at the gym will be away for a few months to train for his MMA competition. In comes Empire Boxing. They opened just a few months ago and I've been wanting to try ever since! They have muay thai, which is kickboxing, something I see progressing into since I box and need to lose some thigh fat. They also have conditioning which is specific to your needs (strengthening the lungs, weight loss, etc) which I also want to try. My trainer makes me do some conditioning exercises before boxing which serve as my cardio warm-up. It differs day-to-day and I love that cause I hate repetitive cardio (eg treadmill, elliptical) cause I easily get bored. The thing is, prices can get pretty steep cause you're paying per session and because training is one-on-one (they have unlimited boxing and conditioning though for around P3000 but I don't think I'd be able to fully maximize it since they're on the other side of town). Ah, I wish Empire would read this and sponsor me! *wishful thinking* If not though, I wish someone would give me money to enroll!    You know Farrah's changed when she's into fitness..but don't be too sure just yet.

Grunge Glam

This is what I wore to the day of my actual birthday last Friday. In my last post, I've written in detail how I've spent the day (you can refer to that if you wanna know haha), This is what I wore to lunch with my family and to the Bauhaus event afterwards. To me, Bauhaus gives off a sort of rock/grunge vibe and that's what I had in mind while picking out the outfit.

I celebrated my 22nd birthday yesterday without much fanfare. I don't know if it comes with age *shudder* but ever since I turned 20, I haven't really properly celebrated my birthdays. (And by celebrate, I mean drink and party, which I don't think I've ever done, mostly because it isn't my thing. But don't get me wrong, I do want to try celebrating that way at some point in my life) In fact, yesterday didn't feel like my birthday at all!

It's August already!! I can't believe July is over. :(

 It’s been a good 6 days since my birthday but I haven’t been able to share to you what happened. What happened during my birthday? Nothing blog-worthy, per se. I went to school, went to mass and we had Shakey’s deliver pizza home cause everyone was tired. This was probably the chill-est birthday I had, and yet in terms of realizations, I had a lot that day. Let me share some:

1)      I am loved. I am loved and I deserve it.

Sometimes, I feel like I’m always the friend who loves more. I really go extra lengths to show the people I love how much I care. It’s also true though, that I feel bad when no one treats me as royally and as loyally as I treat them. But I thought, just because they don’t treat me the way I want them to, it doesn’t mean that they love me less. At the same time, just because I don’t show people I love them the way they want to be loved, doesn’t mean I love them less.

Wednesday Wishlist: Birthday Edition!

So, my birthday is coming up in 12 days and I will be... Forever 21. Here are some of the things I am wishing for:

1) A surprise something.
My cousins surprised me on my 18th birthday but I haven't tried being surprised by my friends. I just remembered Valentine's Day in Ateneo with the gimmicks like the flowers, signs, cakes and shiz and as much as it pains my pride to admit it, I want that. :( Though I guess I have to keep dreaming cause it's not like I'd even have someone to lunch with on my birthday. (Sorry I sound so negative, but I'm being real here) Friends, call me on my birthday at 12nn-1pm while I'm having lunch, just so I don't feel alone please :(


1. a) letters from my friends in Manila would also be nice, although I'm not counting on it cause I know they are busy.
(letters nalang cause I always give them that!!)


2) Bags.
My "dream bag" used to be a Mulberry Alexa but now I am lusting over Proenza Schouler's PS1, available in beautiful and bright colors. le sigh


3) Spiked shoes.
I have been eyeing them since forever!! They have it in Heur Sheen, Romwe, OASAP, etc!

4) Gift checks or money
('nuff said)
Cheyser, I am counting on the gift checkS, as you promised birthday buddy! =))

5) Books.
Some books I want are still here, but the list includes Perks of Being a Wallflower, Can I have your number (Sophie Kinsella), Chicken Soup books (except the first ed, teens and college cause I have those) and Gossip Girl books. Any chic lit book actually--light and fluffy, like cotton candy! :)

6) Quintessential iPhone/camera/laptop
though I doubt this will happen.

7) make-up brushes and make-up


8) Accessories
Hint: I'm a huge necklace girl!
I want those that are timeless yet make a statement and can be worn everyday; something that would last long and wouldn't tarnish easily.
